Our Mission
The Sunglow Trust’s mission is to support the people of Iraq to adapt to the effects of climate change and mitigate those effects. To provide sustainable employment opportunities that meet those challenges in turn reducing a reason to migrate.
Our Vision
For the people of Iraq to achieve resilience in the face of climate change, live in a better state of preparedness, enjoying improved livelihoods working to counter the negative effects of climate change feeling less pressure to emigrate.
Our Team
Get To Know Us
Our assembled team have, between them acquired decades of experience operating across the ‘not for profit’ sector in Iraq
We combine this expertise with local knowledge connecting with communities, especially those facing the brunt of this calamity to bring a greater understanding of what aspects of climate change are adversely affecting daily life and how best to counter those effects whilst becoming more adaptable
Our youth-focused projects are designed to go some way to mitigate the worst of those effects. Working alongside affected communities with schemes providing paid employment and training offers unemployed youth new possibilities, a purpose and direction with the dual purpose of helping to improve daily life while meeting the challenges of climate change
These sustainable schemes boost household incomes helping our workers contribute to a better life for their own communities while at the same time acquiring transferable skills.
Connecting land and community will dissuade those considering wasting years of their life on a perilous journey to Europe
