ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has unveiled a comprehensive support initiative for citizens voluntarily returning to the Kurdistan Region from abroad, aimed at providing both financial and moral assistance.
Naz Jalal, Director of Migration and Crisis Response, described the National Return System (NRM) as an encompassing framework designed to address all aspects of services required by returnees.
Established by the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Joint Crisis Coordination Center, with financial backing from the European Union and International Organization for Migration (IOM), the NRM aims to facilitate the seamless reintegration of returning citizens into society.
“The system acts as an umbrella covering all service-related needs, offering support to citizens who voluntarily choose to return to the region from abroad,” stated Naz Jalal, emphasizing the system’s commitment to assisting returnees and facilitating their integration.
Mohammed Chalak, head of the system department, assured swift assistance to returning citizens based on their specific needs, directing them to appropriate locations and providing various forms of aid promptly.
The Kurdistan Regional Government’s initiative reflects its commitment to supporting returning citizens and fostering their integration into local communities. Since its inception last year, the program has already benefitted 198 returnees, highlighting its effectiveness in providing essential services and support to those choosing to return to the Kurdistan Region.
